Youth/Parent Testimonials

"Thank you all so very much for all that you have done for me during my stay here.  Without the patience and understanding that you have shown me, who knows where I would've ended up! I especially thank you for trying to keep me optimistic in my situation and not letting me give up the hope for a brighter tomorrow. So I say good bye to you all with much sincere gratitude." Dottie

"Dear Evergreen Staff, I couldn't bring my daughter home without letting you know how very much I've appreciated all that you've done for us. You are all wonderful people, and you do an awesome job. I am so happy my daughter was placed in your care. It's amazing the transformation she has undergone between now and a year ago. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and your tender love and care. Continue to make a difference in our youth of today and tomorrow and reconnecting families." A Mother

"About all I have to say is thank you very much for putting up with me and accepting me back every time I ran away.  I miss all of you a lot.  I got a chance to catch up in school, start working, and get some skills I'll need in the future." Veronica

"Dear Jim,
The first thing I would like to do, is extend a personal thank you to you and your staff (back in the 90's) for allowing me the placement at the Runaway home(as it was known while I was there) . I believe, if memory serves me correctly I was 16 (or younger) when I first came in. I do not believe I would be the person I am now without you and the support of the people on your staff.  Thank you from the bottom of my (and my families) heart. I was a teenager in desperate need of help and while I didn't believe that anyone was helping while I was there, I know now, how much of life's skills they had given me. I was pretty much on a collision course at the time, I had a turbulent family relationship, I felt hopeless and I ran away from home, skipped school and put myself into situations that NO teenager should ever be involved in. I thought I knew what I was doing, that I had control over it all, in reality, I was tearing my life apart. I will not say, that I was changed overnight, I was not, because part of changing is believing in yourself and wanting to change, I did not want to and I was far from believing in myself. But during that time, The staff at the home was silently feeding me the tools I would need to be a successful adult, from learning to take responsibility for myself (and not the me against the world manner of doing so) to tracking my money (via the allowance system).  They were skills I was not taught at home and would need to get ahead in my adult life. I'm 32 now, I'm a mother of 4 lovely children 2 of whom are autistic, I run a very promising business and to top it off when I wake up every day I know I LOVE what I am doing.  Through the anger management courses that I was enrolled in at the time I have learned to easily navigate life and it's ups and downs, and I seriously can say I love my life. It's a very long walk down memory lane to realize where I was 16 or 17 years ago, but when I look back I do not see  the life that was spiraling downwards, I see the people who touched my life and allowed me to become the person I am today and I am ever so thankful for that.... If I could tell a kid who is in my position now anything it would be, Believe in yourself and trust these people to lead you, they WILL help you set your life back to right, there is hope..just keep believing...I cannot stress to you how thankful I am for everything. Thank you for your time, your energy, the donations and money used on my space in the home. Thank you for giving me the skills to take my life back and to be who I am today. Thank you! T.H.

"I would like to thank you for everything you guys did for me. When I was living there I didn't realize that what you guys did really helped me.  You guys taught me to respect rules.  I learned to respect other people and to help others when they need it." Joseph

"Well, guess what! I'm going home on Thursday and I'm really "gonna" miss you guys. I will never forget the impact you had on my life. I've got to say I give the staff credit for putting up with me for so long. I'm surprised that you did. That's what I love most about the staff, is that they don't give up on you fast, and that by discipline they show that they care about you. You guys just don't come here for the money. That's why I love you guys!!!!!." A 14 year-old past Evergreen resident.

"Dear Evergreen Staff, I just wanted to say thank you for all that you have done for me. I have learned so much about me and the world around me. Since I have been here I have learned that there are people that care about you even if you don't think so and that all of you are here to help us. I also am glad that you accepted me here to stay in your home. I will miss you all so much and hope that you all have good lives because thanks to all of you I know that I will."  CB

"You have been there for me through court commitments and personal things like boys. You made me realize that I am better than I make myself out to be. You are the definition of a best friend. Your daughter is lucky to have you as a mom" A 15 year-old girl.

"Brenda, thank you so much for always being there for me and my sister and putting up with our little attitudes we had all the time and letting me and my sister stay in this home together. I will miss you a lot and I hope you have a Merry Christmas. " Becca
